Happy Merry
December
Longer nights, stronger ties to
sky lore.
Siren songs run along aspirant
spine, instruct
minds to widen, become open
to awe.
December days go fast.
Light returns slow through
white horizons. Darkening tones
feel appropriate companions.
Sparkling peace, alone in
vastness,
at one with gladness.
Cold, gallant partner, urges
closeness.
Calm before pent up
congregation.
Ready to pop Hallelujahs, surge
ecstatically. World wide exultation.
Electronic connection.
Virtual warmth.
Past fantasies’ achievement.
We weave into future beliefs,
reach forward.
Accept and demand:
We are all in this together.
Twinkling snowflakes in cold dark night
Wishing, dreaming, taking fancy's flight
What are the dreams your snowflakes bring?
What are the songs your carolers sing?
Where is that land -- secret in your mind --
where the seas are strong, the winds are kind
and everything turns up right in the end?
Where is that place, and who is the friend
counting snowflakes across that cold blind sky?
Who is the playfriend;
who is the I?
Twinkling snowflakes, I wish I may
Send warm, healing visions by dream-drawn sleigh.

'tis the season
As we strive through painful
cold, treacherous dark,
dodging danger, palpitating
heart,
anxiety our stark true friend
Dream of this season's end in
joyful meeting,
reunion, reward.
Dream loving happy family, aglow
in warming fire, festive lighted
tree.
Pocket snapshot from a gentler
age,
we ache to reclaim.
Raise high the revelry of feast
and frolic, space for sacred
play,
miraculous day to carry like
inspiring song,
a beacon through the storms
yet to rage.
Live this vision
embracing grace.
WINTER SOLSTICE
The darkness descends.
As we cry out for warmth and light
Our voices turn to spirit-imbued song
Our frantic movements against the cold
turn to ecstatic dancing.
We take comfort from each other’s warmth
and celebrate the life we share,
struggling to survive.
‘Tis the season to relearn the magic
As we shift, ease heavy burdens
of fear and despair.
Joining hands, dancing ’round the fire,
we raise our sight to the sky
and each day,
the days get lighter.
SATURNALIA
Hurrah the Saturnalia!
Bacchus reigns on high
And all the world’s a
feast of fun
So pass the pipe and
pour the rum
And flash a smile o’er
everyone
A twinkle of the
eye.
Hail the merry
Season!
A boost for love &
joy
When packages that
yell “surprise!”
May dance before
excited eyes
from “Santa Claus”
that merry, wise
& venerable
old boy.
Joy to all ye
revelers!
It’s time to join in
play
where roles are
dropped and laughter raised
We’re all buffoons, so
clowns be praised
It’s time to shout out
loud, ablaze
“Enjoy the best of
days!”
A very merry holiday
to each and all I
say!

Winter’s Eve
A
quiet
fall of snow
whitens night’s field.
Unwritten, clean sand
greets tomorrow’s shore.
Tomorrow is the blessed eve
Lords and Ladies, leaping,
dancing, holy abandon, ecstatic
rites.
In dense, secret forest, legends
gambol, rise
honorably to masters, speak sage truth.
Spirits imbue damp, fresh scent.
Words melt, evaporate, flavor brew
of ancient melodies, renewed
each Winter’s Eve.
Picture each archetypal creature enlightened
Each candle warmly, brilliantly ignited
Animated faces dance with excitement
Creature comfort gifts encircle trees
Enlightened pleasures whirled in peace
PRESENT OPENING
Shining forward
Lights and music
Swirl of holiday cinnamon and myrrh
Taste of snowflakes
Crisp, cold, magic
Ballet nights, stories from afar
Joy becomes a hallmark
Friendly carolers grace our doorways
Signs say peace is nigh
If we take hope’s highroad,
glide widened sky, sublime
Warm vibrant blazes, glow inside and out
Affirm this season of light is about
finding that place
of love to strengthen our heart
Facing forward
sparkling Eyes meet
welcoming gaze
Spin a spiral of cheer
for the pleasure of all coming days
season’s
greeting
For this season’s greeting
I give the gift of joy.
Hold it close and wear it well.
Share it with the ones you tell
Your season’s greetings to.
Open wide your heart, your eyes
Breathe deeply, smell the warming spice
Reach out, reach up, reach to the skies
Believe again in “fellow men”
Believe in wisdom’s beauty
Believe in joy — and tell your friends:
“This is our greatest duty.”
For as joy fills our hearts, we leave no room for
doom/destruction
As joy fills our lives, we learn to live in peace.
